What We Do
Restoration, assessment, and fitting of traditional door hardware
Our restoration process covers the full spectrum of heritage door care: from detailed cleaning and rust removal of brass hardware to the careful repair and refinishing of carved wooden frames. We assess structural integrity, fit hinges with precision, and ensure every door operates smoothly while maintaining its original character.
Hardware Restoration
Cleaning, polishing, and refinishing brass handles, locks, and hinges to restore their original lustre without compromising patina or historical authenticity.
Precision Fitting
Expert alignment and installation of hardware to ensure doors hang true, close smoothly, and function reliably for years to come.
Wood Restoration
Careful repair and conditioning of carved wooden doors and frames, preserving traditional joinery and decorative elements.
Heritage Workshop Methods
Traditional techniques meet careful preservation
Our workshop sits at the heart of Khiva's heritage district, where traditional craftsmanship remains central to our daily practice. Every restoration begins with respect for the original maker's intent—whether that means preserving hand-wrought details or carefully replicating missing components using period-appropriate techniques.
Our Approach
- Hand-fitting each hinge and handle to individual doors
- Using non-invasive cleaning methods to protect original finishes
- Sourcing or crafting replacement hardware that matches historical patterns
- Testing function and durability before final installation
- Documenting the restoration process for your records
We believe restoration is as much art as craft. It requires patience, skill, and an understanding of the materials and methods that shaped these doors generations ago.
Serving Khiva and Surrounding Areas
On-site assessment and fitting for residential properties
We work throughout Khiva and the Xorazm Region, visiting homes to assess doors and hardware in their original setting. An on-site visit allows us to evaluate structural condition, understand how light and use have affected the wood and brass, and discuss restoration options with you in detail.
Our assessment process is straightforward: we examine the door, hardware, and frame; photograph key details; discuss timeline and approach; and provide a clear picture of what restoration can achieve for your property.
We maintain regular workshop hours and offer flexible scheduling for consultations. Most assessments take 30–45 minutes and carry no obligation.

Care & Maintenance Guide
Preserve your restored hardware and doors
After restoration, thoughtful maintenance extends the life of your doors and hardware. Here are practical steps to keep your investment protected:
Brass Hardware Care
Dust monthly with a soft cloth. For deeper cleaning, use mild soap and water; dry thoroughly. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers that can damage protective patina. A light coat of clear wax annually helps prevent oxidation.
Wood Conditioning
Apply a quality wood conditioner or oil every 6–12 months, depending on climate. This keeps carved details supple and prevents cracking. Always test on a hidden area first. Wipe away excess to avoid buildup.
Seasonal Adjustments
Wood expands and contracts with humidity and temperature. In summer and winter, check that doors still close smoothly. Minor hinge adjustments may be needed. We're happy to perform seasonal tune-ups.
Weather Protection
Protect exterior doors from direct rain and intense sun. Consider a small overhang or protective finish. Interior doors require less intervention but benefit from stable humidity levels inside your home.
